Welcome to my blog and thanks so much for reading. My name is Julia and I’m a journalist, blogger and mum of two living in the Yorkshire Dales.
I moved back to my hometown after spending several years in Manchester and then on the Wirral, living just a few minutes from the sea and half an hour from Liverpool.
I loved it there but decided to move back after my husband Roger died from cancer. It’s something I have written about a lot, and to be honest without this blog as an outlet and for support I think the past few years would have been much harder.
You can read more about that if you like in the loss section of my blog. I also write about my day-to-day life with my family – Sam who is nine and five-year-old Florence.
My posts can be anything from my love of fashion and my favourite stylish finds, to interiors, travel, food and a lot of photography thrown in.
You’ll find stories of sadness, of survival, and of shoes. You’ll find a mixture of things that I love and things that I feel. Hopefully you’ll find something that you like.
My favourite things are large cups of tea and even larger gin and slims, raspberries, dark chocolate, stripes and skinny jeans, walking on sand, poring over interiors or fashion magazines, any kind of print with a bird on, talking to friends, instagram, my cat, my family and any perfume that smells like lemons.
I work with brands on projects from time to time but will always make it clear when a post has been sponsored – and the opinions voiced here are absolutely always my own.
I have contributed to the Huffington Post and written for Mumsnet. I have also been featured as blogger of the month on the Tots100 site and been Blog of the Day on the Mumsnet Bloggers Network.
I’ve been nominated for many awards, including the MAD Blog Awards Best Writer 2016, Blog of the Year, Best Writer and Outstanding Contribution in 2015, and a Brilliance in Blogging Reader’s Choice award in 2016.
I finally won one this year 🙂 when I was named Best Lifestyle Blogger at the Northern Blog Awards 2018. YAY!
