Alphabet Cards from The Appealing Rabbit

Trying to help children learn is always so much easier when there is an element of play involved – and when you add in drawing and a bit of competition, it’s easier still.

These cards from The Appealing Rabbit were designed by a Norwegian father who wanted to help his kids form their letters correctly. The beautifully stylish illustrations on each card feature a letter which can be traced with a pen, wiped clean and then traced over and over again.

The idea is that you can give away one point for every letter your child writes correctly – if they don’t, you score a point instead. I have to say this part didn’t go down too well with my son, who absolutely hates losing. All the more reason to practise, I told him! At six, he’s pretty good at writing his letters but still does a few the wrong way round from time to time. I found this game really helped cement them in his mind, as well as being a fun thing for us to do together.

His little sister liked getting in on the act too, and at 23 months I don’t think she is too young to be playing with letters and enjoying the gorgeous Scandi-Style pictures.

These cards can also be used to push together to make words, like a basic kind of scrabble game, and that worked well after we’d had a play with the pen. Each set includes 30 cards including a scoreboard and three extra Scandinavian letters, and a dry-erase marker pen.

I have one set of Alphabet Cards worth £9.90 to give away, if you’d like to enter just use the rafflecopter form below.
