Five under 5

Five under £5 – February

Five under £5 for February

Five under £5 for February

As February is the month of Valentines, I couldn’t help but add a few little hearts into this post. It may not be something I’m looking forward to this year but I will still be buying a little something for Sam and Florence, as it makes me smile just as much as it will them, and takes the focus off me a little too.

So my first find under a fiver this month has to be these super cute baby heart pumps from Gap. I bought them in the sale a few weeks ago after my friend Clare pointed them out to me online and we had a collective squeal over them. They were reduced to £4 from £9.99 so I think I can just about get them into this post. I can’t find them online anymore I’m afraid, but you may be lucky in store. These are size 18-24, so as they are way too small for Florence, they’ll soon be delivered to Clare’s baby Joy!

The ladybird chocolates are another Valentines special from Marks and Spencer and I bought them last week for about £2. They were so nice, they definitely won’t make it until the 14th in my house.

Another of my five things is from M&S this time, and it’s this lovely pink cloud notebook which I picked up for £3. They have some really great stationery in there at the moment, and seeing as it’s right next to the foodhall in my local store – and I am addicted to their beetroot and goats cheese salad – I seem to have bought quite a few bits and pieces from the range recently.

Lush bath bomb - http://rainbeaubelle.com

My kids love bath bombs from Lush and this one called The Experimenter is so brightly-coloured it looks like a massive jewel and smells gorgeous. I have to say it sparked a bit of a row though, as Sam and Flo tussled over who was going to carry it up the stairs, who was going to get it out of the bag, and who was going to throw it in the bath! To say it ended in tears was an understatement – next time I’d better make sure I buy two the same!

Lastly, this card had to be included as a hint to how I feel about Valentines! I’m sure most of you will be familiar with the blog Hurrah for Gin, it’s a hilarious take on parenting which I often find myself giggling at, and I was lucky enough to meet Katie, the lady behind the blog, a few times last year. She sells her cards at Gin Bunny Prints and I recently stocked up so I always have a brilliant gem when the need arises. I love this little smiling rainbow with the grumpy thoughts.

Thanks again to everyone who linked up last month, I’m so glad other people want to join in with the Five under £5 thing. You can join in with a blog post or just a photo shared on Instagram or even Facebook or Twitter. Just tweet me and let me know you’ve linked up using the hashtag #fiveunder5, and take the time to comment on a few other people’s posts. You might just find something you want to go out and buy! Careful, it’s dangerous.

I have decided to run this feature on the 5th of every month, to make it easier to remember. So see you on 5 March.

x Julia

Oh I love everything this month Julia, those ladybird chocolates look too good to eat. How adorable is the notebook. I know if I treated myself to this, my 10 year old would squirrel it away in her room when I wasn’t looking. My daughter has suddenly got into bath bombs, and I love that kids can literally argue over everything. Sounds very much like my 2 xx

Aaah what a lovely collection of things!!! I think my fave is Katie’s card — love her prints — she does make me laugh!! And yep, I feel like this about Valentines too.

Even though I’m happily married, think Valentines is SUCH a marketing con. Not romantic — just a way of making people part with their hard earned cash. And that’s coming *from* a hopeless romantic!!! 😉

Those shoes are so gorgeous and what a total bargain. I have resisted buying those little chocolates because they might not even make it home but I might invest later this week, when I go in for my beetroot and goat’s cheese salad – I absolutely love them too, they are delicious! A great five and a lovely idea, thank you for hosting Julia, I will pop back and comment on the others later. Have a good day lovely xx

That bath bomb looks amazing! I couldn’t get near the bath bomb section when I went in as there were a load of teenagers huddled round them…I was being a proper grump about it, haha. Sadly my boys can’t really use the Lush stuff as their skin in super sensitive, they can usually cope with butterball and that’s about it, such a shame that I have to keep them all to myself 😉 Love that card from Hurrah for Gin! xx #Fiveunder5

Love these, Julia. I’m amazed how you find such amazing things for a great price. I went to M&S with the littlest last week but the lure of the deli counter prevents us from hanging around in the stationery department for too long. I need to head back there on my own x

Oh I love the concept of 5 under £5! I too love the M&S stationery but I did spot equally nice paper wares in Sainsburys recently too. Maybe if I get myself organised I can include something from there in a 5 under 5 post. Thanks for sharing, just discovered your blog and really enjoying it. Keira x
