Happy by Pharrell, the book and the party

Happy by Pharrell Williams

Happy by Pharrell Williams

We all know the Pharrell tune Happy, and singing ‘like a room without a roof’ can’t fail to raise a smile for most. It’s an infectious song which kids love, and now the singer has launched a book all about it.

Using the lyrics to Happy, the book is full of gorgeous, joyous photos of children dressing up, playing, having fun and just, well, being happy!

To help celebrate the book launch we were asked to have a little happy party of our own. Just a bit of a chance to have some fun together and do some silly stuff just for the hell of it. Sam and Flo couldn’t believe it when a parcel arrived which I said they could open, and it was full of giant bubble wrap, silly sunglasses, hats and party blowers.

Happy partyWhile we had a bit of downtime over half term, we decided to have a party lunch and play some games just the three of us.

It certainly put a smile on our faces. The kids – ok and me – loved jumping on the bubble wrap, giggling at the popping sound it made. The dressing up part was just Sam’s kind of thing, he has always been into fancy dress and even has a mini clothes rail dedicated to his costumes. Give him a police hat and some shades and he is always happy!

We put on the song, danced around and used the book to sing along with Pharrell. Then we had some lunch, wearing our silly sunnies, and indulged in some indoor sparkler action. A little bit of a practice run before Bonfire Night, and it certainly made us all laugh.

Thank you so much to Penguin for providing the ingredients for our happy party!

Oh my goodness, I didn’t know it had been made in to a book. The boys love that song. You really can’t help but dance to it.
