Happy smiles and holidays

Roger in France

Roger in France

Recently I’ve shared a few family photographs which were taken while my husband Roger was at home on breaks from the hospice. They are pretty much the only pictures we have of all four of us together, and nice as it is to have them we do both love looking back on old photos from our holidays when he was fit, well, and more importantly, happy.

These are the photos which show the true Roger in my eyes and the ones which I will treasure most in years to come. I recently started trying to organise and back up all my photos – a daunting task when I have a few thousand which all need sorting through – and it’s reminded me how carefree and also how young we looked before any of this happened. The events of the past few years have certainly aged me and I can see many more grey hairs and sadly a few more wrinkles around my eyes.

If you read my blog regularly or know us in real life, you’ll know Rog fell ill a few months before our daughter was born so all our pictures prior to that are just of my husband, myself and Sam, who is now six. These images show us on holiday in France in summer 2012 when we spent a gorgeous week in Uzes, between Avignon and Nimes.

I’m sharing them as part of the My Captured Moment project with Heledd at Running in Lavender.

We have one photo of us all together how bad is that? I am definitely going to work on that. It’s incredibly hard to look back at photos without comparing but every photo speaks a thousand words and the warmth love and happiness definitely sine through on these.
Julia each post I am reminded to be grateful for everything and not take the more mundane moments for granted. Thank you for sharing your difficult journey with us and inspiring me to be thankful

It’s funny, Julia, your post has reminded me that we have so few photos of the five of us together, simply because I am usually the one behind the camera – in fact, I think we only have two such photos, despite Kara now being three! I’ll have to rectify thta.

Photos provide such valuable memories – frozen moments in time that remind us how we were and how far we have come. I hope you manage to capture more happy moments with all four of you.

I bet you treasure these photos of you looking so happy Julia. The warmth and love radiate out of these, just as they did on the other photos too. It just shows how important and special it is to capture all the memories. xx

These photos are absolutely gorgeous, Julia. You all look very happy indeed.

Organising photos is such a pain in the bum but you will be so glad you did it.

Try to get some printed out too, nothing beats holding real photographs, passing them around and talking about those memories.

Beautiful photos and they will be treasured always. As much as we have to live in the present, memories are so important too X

Ah Julia we went to Uzes last summer so I know just how magical it is there – and I think I know where that restaurant is! I love these happy family shots of you all, this is how I like to think of you and Rog, although I know the reality is very different now. You all look so happy and carefree and I know that these pictures will always be close to your heart. Thank you so much for linking up to #MyCaptuedMoment xxx
