I started writing a post about my highs and lows of 2014, but frankly, I’ve had a few sloe gins and it was all getting a bit maudlin. So instead, here’s a list of things I’m looking forward to in 2015. I’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has read my blog this year. It really does mean so much to me. Happy New Year everyone! x Julia x
So, in 2015 I’m looking forward to…
Many more proud moments from our two children, who will turn six and two this year. They are a double act that tire us out and drive us (well me) to drink, but we adore them and their blossoming relationship is so special to watch.
Sleeping in our caravan for the very first time. We bought it second hand at the end of the summer, and have been planning our renovations ever since. I’ve been pouring over vintage caravan looks on Pinterest, and can’t wait for the renovations to start in earnest this year.
Spending more time in Yorkshire with my family and friends. We haven’t made as many trips over as we usually do the past few years as my husband has been unwell, but we’ll be making up for it this year. I’ve already got my sights set on the Turkish Baths in Harrogate for the early part of the year. Let’s do it!
Planning weekends with friends who, for the same reason, we haven’t seen as much of as we’d like lately. Please can someone get married, or at least renew your vows, so we have an excuse for a get together? Not that we need one, it just helps get everyone organised!
Learning to crochet. I have been tentatively asking one of my friends who crochets for months about it, and am determined to give it a go this year. I’ve also been inspired by the fab blog Attic 24, whose pictures I always gasp at on Facebook and wish I could be so creative. My aim is to make one thing by the end of the year. Dream, er, small with this one!
Meeting some of the bloggers I’ve become friends with in person this year, at Blog On and BritMums Live.
Going in our first holiday abroad as a family of four. With our son, we’ve been to France, Italy and Spain but we’ve only ever done Devon and Wales with baby gal. Hopefully, with her being a bit older this year, it will be a bit easier…won’t it?
Seeing more live music. In my 20s, I used to go to so many gigs and was always finding new bands to get into, but these days I never seem to find the time. I used to be a bit of a raver, then an indie kid with a bit of rock thrown in. Oh and I love Motown. I listen to 6 Music in the kitchen or the car, but never seem to get round to booking tickets to see anyone or making the effort to get my friends together to go to a gig. One exception is my fabulous friend Caroline England, who not only has an amazing voice but she is a brilliant birth partner too. I can vouch for that! Go on, give her a listen.
I could go on writing this list all night, but as it’s New Year’s Eve, I’ll add sleep more, drink more, stress less and sign off. See you on the other side!
x Julia
