Merry Christmas

IMG_1540.JPG

Christmas Eve traditions haven’t really got off the ground in our house this year. I’m afraid we haven’t been that organised. But the things we have done could probably be classed as traditions, such as:

Posting Christmas cards through the neighbours’ doors on Christmas Eve, because they’ve been sitting on the kitchen table for a week and we haven’t got round to it earlier.

Still having presents to wrap, and thinking it will be ‘festive’ to wrap them on Christmas Eve night, when there a million other things we’d rather be doing (such as drinking wine, eating mince pies or probably sleeping).

Putting some presents under the tree, thinking one child is old enough to know not to open them but forgetting the other is only 18 months and will just rip the paper right off when your back’s turned, making sure it isn’t one of hers, just for comedy value. This one actually worked well, as we spent an hour this morning playing first born’s ghost game, which we probably wouldn’t have had time for tomorrow morning.

Not buying or cooking a turkey. This is only because my fantastic mum and dad are cooking our Christmas dinner tomorrow, not because we forgot or are trying to be alternative.

Stocking up on the painkillers, as at least one of us (me) is still full of cold after four weeks of feeling rough. Cue festive discussion about how nurofen will kill me, as it nearly killed my husband (he claims, it didn’t).

Eating chocolate before breakfast, as it’s going to happen tomorrow anyway so we may as well start as we mean to go on.

We will of course be hanging up our stockings, throwing our reindeer food in the garden and leaving a glass of wine/gin/beer for Father C. And going to bed hoping for a lie-in past 6am.

Wherever you are, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and a very happy 2015.

Much festive love,

X Julia

Happy Christmas to you and your family, Julia.

Thank you for all your posts this year. You’ve made me laugh, cry, contemplate, buy from places I never knew existed and reminisce. I’ve loved them all and look forward to many more fabulous posts in 2015.

    All the best,
    Em xx

Merry Christmas lovely. I adore that reindeer card from your niece. How cute is that?! I like the sound of your Christmas dinner being cooked for you. But I don’t like the fact that you’re still feeling poorly. I hope you feel better soon and that the nurofen helped. Hugs Mrs H xxxx
