I always knew if I had a girl it’d be dangerous. There’s a four-year age gap between my children, so I had spent a fair amount of time looking at clothes for girls without actually having one of my own to buy for before baby gal came along last year.
Don’t get me wrong, there are so many cool clothes for little boys out there, it’s just that shopping for a girl is like shopping for myself, but in miniature. And in this case, buying something totally frilly and frivolous, well just because I probably won’t have another baby to dress up so I need to make the most of it while she’s teeny!
I like to choose things for my baby gal that are comfortable but still look cute, stylish and not too grown up. I love putting her in easy jersey dresses with tights and boots or these retro little shoes, or my current fave, a pair of purple corduroy bloomers from Boden.
A few weeks ago though, I was out shopping for Christmas presents and fell for this Name It party dress in Cowboys and Angels in West Kirby. It’s dark pink, it’s got a tutu-like net skirt, it’s covered in tiny silver dots – what’s not to love?
She wore it for our Boxing Day family gathering with a matching silver cardi and grey tights, and looked adorable in it (well I thought so!).

January 3, 2015 at 12:28 amThat is a stunning dress and I’m pretty sure one of my daughters used to own an identical cardigan!
I’m not a girly girl by any stretch of the imagination but I used to love dressing the three girls up when they were little. Now I have younger boys all I ever see is beautiful girls clothes, don’t I think Lee would be impressed if I started dressing O in pink frilly dresses though! xxx
