We’ve spent a lot of time together this month so far, what with the Easter weekend, the two-week school holidays and our trip away to North Yorkshire.
You can really tell from these photos that Sam and Florence adore one another, and their sibling bond is really close and growing more so as they get older. They also do plenty of winding each other up of course, but luckily that doesn’t last long and I find if they’re separated for five or ten minutes then it’s soon forgotten about.
They had such a great time on holiday, as soon as we landed at the cottage they were upstairs exploring the bedroom they shared, playing camping games under the covers and arranging their toys on their beds. It was the first time I managed to get them to share a bedroom, as previously they’ve always been too excited and sleep just hasn’t been on the menu.
Now Flo is a bit older and more comfortable in a single bed rather than a cot, it’s nice to see them sharing and after a lot of switching the light on and off, chatting, giggling and coming downstairs, they did finally get to sleep in the same room. On the second night, that is! The first night saw Sam sharing a bed with me as he couldn’t take any more of his sister’s chatter.
I took these photos over Easter before I took Florence to her first birthday party at a friend’s house. She was so happy to be in her party dress, she is such a girlie girl and knows her own mind when it comes to what she wants to wear. Her dress has a really cool cat print and is from Question Everything Kids, as is Sam’s ultra smart Bowie shirt.
QE Kids is a label which is ethically sound, with all products being made out of a family-run business in Manila. A percentage of the profits go to support Childhope Asia, which works with street children in the Phillipines.
The blue dress looks really cute over a white tee now, but will look lovely on its own in the summer months too. No doubt it will lead to Flo singing her made-up Friday song, which goes ‘It’s Friday, it’s Friday – no sleeves!’ accompanied of course by a flash of her bare arm!
These little things she says are the things I want to remember from these years. Like the words they mispronouce, and it’s too cute to correct them. Other ones I love are:
‘Eyebrowns’ instead of eyebrows
‘Toglet’ for the belt on her dressing gown
‘Snowman White’ for Snow White, and
‘Auntie Mummy’ instead of Auntie Maureen.
This is the second month I’m joining in with the Siblings project, charting my children from month to month.

April 17, 2016 at 6:43 amThey are both getting so big! And they’re rocking their new togs. It’s lovely that they can share a room together – but I do understand what Sam means about the incessant chatter of a two year old…
