When your problems seem so huge that nothing can make them go away, there’s something reassuring about finding just one little thing that you can easily fix. That thing for me, this week anyway, was the tangled mass of necklaces decorating my dressing table. As Jay-Z might say, I got 99 problems but my jewellery ‘aint one. (I’m cringing but I couldn’t resist that one, sorry!).
I had been keeping most of the jewellery I wear day to day on a few small plates and bowls in my bedroom, but lately I’d been picking one out to wear only to find it knotted up with about three others and just not being bothered to sort them out. When I posted a photo of my jewellery woes on Instagram, so many people seemed to have the same problem and I started looking into how it could be solved.
Solutions came in the form of a large beauty box, similar to the one mobile hairdressers use, or hooks on a wall to hang each necklace separately. Then a friend recommended I check out the acrylic storage boxes in Muji and I was away. I remembered how organised they looked used for make-up on one of my favourite beauty blogs, Let’s Talk Beauty, and decided to invest.
I ordered one small set of drawers to begin with, then when they looked so good went back to order a larger set with an added jewellery tray. Perfect for keeping everything clean and separate – and also perfect for Florence’s tiny fingers to get in and pick out her favourite bits (she’s already a bit of an accessory queen, I’m proud to say).
So there you have it. For now, one small problem sorted. If only everything in life were that easy.
x Julia

June 7, 2015 at 8:20 amI keep my jewellery in a sewing box. Bit random I know, but it works for me.
It’s only a small thing but its amazing how stressful it can be when you just want to grab something and it’s all tangled.
Loving the glasses plate xxxx

June 7, 2015 at 3:11 pmAs you know I love my MUJI Storage & think for the quality its very reasonably priced. I like how they keep everything organised, but that you can also see what you have. Your jewellery looks very organised & I never thought to use it for that. My makeup collection took over & everything else got forgotten about

June 9, 2015 at 6:31 amTotally agree, I can’t stand it when he weekly does that. I don’t wear any day to day anymore. But when I do I wear my pandora and a diamond ring and watch. I used to sell beauty cases -I imported them from China. Had my business for 3 years. I was only 21. Had I known I would have saved you one 😉 I use mine for all my stuff and it makes life so much easier. Xxx

June 10, 2015 at 10:44 amI keep my jewellery in a really weird item I found on EBay. It’s basically like a dress on a coat hanger with tons of little sections it’s fab takes up no room at all and means all my jewellery is separated

June 12, 2015 at 2:56 pmI don’t have a massive amount of jewellery but I’m pretty certain that what I do own is in a tangled mess in a box. I need to free the jewellery and give it a good home – a box like this is a great idea! Xxx

June 12, 2015 at 4:53 pmThese look brilliant. I have my jewellery in many small boxes. But I could do with something more organised. These would also work brilliantly for all the hair bands and hair clips I have. They get littered all around the flat. Hugs Mrs H xxxx
