I haven’t done many interiors posts lately, probably because I haven’t made many changes to my home after the initial moving in stage. Ok, so I realise it has been more than a year since I moved but these things take time, don’t they?
This time last year the house was pretty chaotic as we were converting our garage into a playroom. It was finished about a week before Christmas and has made such a difference to the house. It’s a playroom, laundry room, office space and party place all rolled into one, and as a result means the living room can be left pretty much clutter-free.
In our old house, we had toys mostly in the living room and some in the kitchen/diner, leaving no room a calm and more grown up space. I love that about this house, that when the kids are in bed or I have friends over in the evenings, I don’t have to clear away a stack of Barbies, plastic cats and fluffy unicorns beforehand.
I took these photos a few weeks ago when the light was much better than it has been this week. (So dark isn’t it? Where has the sun been today?) I wasn’t going to post them but thought it’d be nice to do a quick update before the house becomes all twinkly for Christmas – which will not be happening for a good for weeks by the way. Christmas does not start until mid-December for me!
The latest additions to this room are the rug and matching cushion, which are both from Habitat, and the mini canvases which are Sam’s Super Mario creations.
The next thing I’m planning on doing is putting some shelves up so I can display more of my favourite things and houseplants, which I seem to have rather a lot of. I had more inspiration for this last week when I visited the Hepworth in Wakefield, which has plants for sale from the instagram darlings Geo Fleur.
I hope you like!
